The Center for Human Rights in Iran has strongly criticized the Iranian authorities for imposing sentences against political activists. In a statement released today, the organization called for urgent international intervention to overturn what it described as “harsh and unjust rulings.”
According to Hadi Ghaemi, the center’s director, the sentences handed down to Bakhshan Azizi, Varsha Moradi, and Sharifa Mohammadi represent a grave violation of human rights.
Iranian authorities sentenced Bakhshan Azizi to death on January 8, 2025, followed by the same sentence for Varsha Moradi on December 10, 2024, and Sharifa Mohammadi on February 13, 2025.
Ghaemi warned that these activists’ lives are in imminent danger, emphasizing that any delay in intervention could lead to tragic consequences.
The statement urged the international community and United Nations organizations to take a firm stance against these unjust rulings and called for immediate action to save the lives of the women facing severe repression by the Iranian authorities.
