The “No Execution Tuesdays” campaign, a prisoner-led initiative against capital punishment in Iran, has entered its 45th consecutive week.
On Tuesday, prisoners in at least 25 prisons participated in the hunger strike, which has been ongoing for 45 weeks.
The campaign has gained momentum, with 68 Iranian and international human rights organizations endorsing it over the past few weeks.
Reports indicate that over 28 people, including two juvenile offenders, were executed in Iranian prisons over the past week.
The total number of executions has reached 743 since March.
Prisoners in 25 facilities have joined hunger strikes in protest, including Evin, Ghezelhesar, Rasht, Shiraz, Tabriz, and Urmia.
The campaign condemns the death sentences and urges human rights organizations to take urgent action to protect prisoners’ lives. It describes the government’s execution practices as a “tool of repression and intimidation” and calls for public support.
The weekly hunger strike, which began in February, comprises prisoners from various Iranian jails.
