The human rights lawyer, Abdulfattah Soltani, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison by a revolutionary court in Tehran, Iran.
Soltani was arrested last year for the charge of endangering national security.
First, in March, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison, but his daughter, Maede Soltani, told the AP agency that during the appeal process, the sentence to 13 years in prison was confirmed.
Amnesty International says that Soltani is “a non-violent political prisoner who has been imprisoned only for his legitimate activities as a human rights lawyer”.
Abdulfatah Soltani co-founded a human rights group in Iran, along with Nobel Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi.
